Good afternoon Sewists,
I have managed all my sewing life without a tailor’s ham but decided to make one recently in case I was missing out on something – and I was, it makes pressing seams much easier.

With the ham I can press the seams without distorting the garment, I had an attachment that hooked onto the ironing board and did an OK job but it was unsteady and it was somewhat of a juggling act.

This was the attachment, decades old, I used it for side and sleeve seams.

I was going to make a ‘Sausage’ or sleeve roll but found this little neck pillow in a charity shop and it works perfectly, using this gives well pressed seams.

Ham and Sausage.
